Bored with the traditional vibrator? Does even your rabbit vibe leave you falling asleep at the controls? Then the Throbbing Hearts dual-action vibe by Doc Johnson is for you! It’s the first toy that throbs (yes, you heard me right; it throbs!), and has an astounding potential to bring you to new heights of orgasmic bliss.

This pretty pink vibe, adorned with textured hearts and ribbed shaft, has an attached clitoral stimulator for added pleasure. Throbbing Hearts is made out of TPE (sometimes called TPR). It’s pthalate-free and waterproof. Thanks to Sh! Women’s Erotic Emporium for sending me this new plaything!

I had no idea what to expect when this toy arrived. I cleaned it, popped in the requisite 4 AAA batteries, and got ready for a whole new experience of sensation. I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical. What’s the big deal with throbbing anyway? If it was so good, it would have been done before…and my mind ran away with other similar thoughts.

The packaging illustrates how the shaft of the Throbbing Hearts expands and contracts, and says that it does so with your own body’s motions. What the packaging couldn’t tell me, however, is what it feels like deep inside my pussy “throbbing” away.

So what does it feel like? It feels like thrusting. Like your favorite cock or strap-on is pounding you, in and out and in and out. You don’t need to drive the thrusting of the Throbbing Hearts toy. It’s kind of incredible, actually. The expansion and contraction of the shaft, along with your Kegel muscles doing their thang, feels ridiculously similar to a living, breathing cock. Not only does the throbbing simulate erectile tissue and blood flow upon engorgement, it actually moves this dual-action vibe in and out of you. No hands needed!

The Throbbing Hearts will pump itself away until you’re cumming, breathless & sated, and then some. There are three intensities of throbbing controlled by the square “On” and “Off” buttons at the bottom of the jellybean-shaped silver control panel. “On” doubles as Harder, faster, baby! and “Off” doubles as Good lord please slow down… slower… gentler… ohhhh.

Main shaft –  5.5″
Clitoral stimulator – 3″
Overall length – 10.75″

In the middle of the control panel you’ll find a round button labeled “Bullet.” This turns the bullet vibe function of the clitoral attachment on and off. Above that, you’ll find an elliptical button labeled “7F” to represent the 7 functions offered by the clit stimulator.  And above that are three LED lights which, in green, orange and red, visually mimic the vibration pattern of the particular function you have the clitoral attachment bullet set on. Pretty nifty.

I adore how squishy and soft this dual-action vibe feels against my skin. The throbber is audible under a blanket, but won’t be heard through a closed door. The bullet on the clitoral attachment is virtually silent when touching skin.

I think the ribbing along the shaft is an excellent added-touch. I could care less about the hearts, as they’re pretty much just there for decoration and their heavily textured, raised surface makes cleaning the Throbbing Hearts a tad more annoying.

I wish that this toy was silicone instead of TPE, so that it could be completely sterilized. Since I can’t alter the material, I opt to use toy covers (or condoms as toy covers) when using it, to make clean up easier, at least where the insertable portion of the toy is concerned.

Like most rabbit vibes (even though this is a non-traditional shape for such), the controls are awkwardly located. If it’s inside of you, and you’re having any sort of pleasure sensation at all, it’s going to be hard to use the control panel by sight. For that, I appreciate the fact that the buttons are raised different shapes, and with a little practice you can learn what’s where and what it does.

If you have a partner driving, however, the control panel is perfect, and the text on it actually faces them, assuming that they’re nestled between your legs, able to look up at the growing-smile on your face… Mmm.

Notes on Use: TPE is latex-free, hypo-allergenic, body-friendly and non-toxic. Use your favorite water-based lube with the Throbbing Hearts. It is slightly porous, and so I don’t recommend sharing your TPE toys like the Throbbing Hearts. If you plan on using the Throbbing Hearts in water, make sure that the battery compartment is sealed completely!

Remember that it’s best to store the batteries separate from your toy when its not in use, and it’s always a good idea to clean the Throbbing Hearts thoroughly before and after each use. To clean TPE, use mild soap and warm water, or any standard sex toy cleaner. A soft-bristled toothbrush reserved for sex toys (keep a separately labeled one for cleaning anal toys, please!) will help get the grooves between the ribbing and those sweet lil’ hearts squeaky-clean. Play safe & stay safe!
