FacelessVoice: Aural Erotica for a Digitized Age

FacelessVoice Productions specializes in the creation and distribution of audio downloads made for your pleasure. What do I mean by made for your pleasure? I mean that FacelessVoice gives you access to a plethora of erotic stories meant to get you off. Hard. They call them “Erotic Romance Audio Books” and “Sensual and Sexy Audio Stories.”

FacelessVoice tiers their stories into three major categories–Good Girl, Bad Girl, & Naughty Girl–which I think is a particularly clever way of signifying the intensity of themes in each story. It makes it much easier to find stories that are catered to your specific palate of pleasure and turn-ons.

Don’t let the category names fool you, though. FacelessVoice is just as much for men, as it is for women. And for every story that they offer, you have your choice of downloading it in a woman’s voice or a man’s… pretty nifty! FacelessVoice currently offers their erotica stories as read by Duane Dale and Lucy Blue.

When I first listened to a piece that Duane Dale had read, I swooned. Seriously. His voice embodies the quintessential romance novel knight-in-shining-armor. I had to laugh at how closely his timbre resembles what I’ve always heard in my head when I’ve read the genre myself. In a word: sizzling. Duane Dale’s embodiment of characters is also insanely delightful. Just don’t be like me and listen to him in the middle of busy coffee shops! It gets pretty tough to keep one’s composure!

Lucy Blue’s voice is hard for me to describe. In the beginning, her voice ran through me like a cyborg’s might… a computer-generated approximation of human. The more I listened, though, the more that her humanity shined through. And got to me. I can’t place her into a niche, but I love the subtle (and not-so-subtle) variations of tone and inflection and the way that Lucy Blue inserts apropos pauses in the readings. I’d be incredibly interested to hear some male readers’ responses to Lucy Blue’s voice.

Playing the very same story as read by Lucy Blue and as read by Duane Dale yields two completely different listening experiences for me that make it seem like the stories themselves are indeed different stories! I love that Duane Dale and Lucy Blue lend themselves to the stories so intensely that they become personalized due to their unique personalities. Not to mention that such a fact doubles the amount of stories available for your listening pleasure! Hot.

I have an appreciation for FacelessVoice and Duane Dale and Lucy Blue’s work that extends beyond the question of Did this get me off? (Though they do indeed get me off.) Most of the stories are penned by other authors, which means that Duane and Lucy are not reading their own work. To be able to take someone else’s vision and make it come to life, aurally, whispered into your ear like a lover would intimately tell you a bedtime story from your most cherished book of erotica (or the depths of the fantasies s/he knew you possessed) is truly a work of art. I adore this about FacelessVoice and their mission to be The Porn Alternative™.

As you’ve probably noticed, I don’t spend a lot of time (if any) talking about pornography on Bombshells & Rockstars. And I certainly don’t advertise it. I know there is money to be made there; I know that it’s a huge market, and it would be easy to get a piece of it, but there are so many other blogs and free-sites and pay-sites and communities and stores you can go to if that’s the flavor you’re looking for. I strive to provide something a little bit different here on Bombshells & Rockstars. I don’t need to replace pornography, and I don’t take issue with it. (Please, oh please, don’t confuse me with an anti-porn feminist. I’m not one!) At the same time, however, I like to showcase sex-positive companies, products, toys, accessories and erotica that engage the imagination differently than a video or photo-shoot might. FacelessVoice Productions does this consistently and effectively, and that is delectable!

Are there things I would change about what FacelessVoice Productions does or how they do what they do? Absolutely. But I am a perfectionist. And more peculiar in my tastes than most I know.

That said, I believe that FacelessVoice is off to a great start, and I’m eager to see what will develop as things shift and grow and evolve. In the meantime, they have a delicious library of downloads just waiting to carry you off into pleasure-waves!
