The Luxe™ Rejuvenate: Affordable Luxury?

This month, a sparkly little gem arrived in the mail from California Exotic Novelties for me to review. It’s the Rejuvenate from their new Luxe™ line of massagers. I have to admit that it’s not really sparkly; it has a satin Polyurethane Cote (PU) finish (also known as Velvet-Cote) over its ABS plastic body. Mine is black, and I adore the aesthetics of it. The Rejuvenate is also available in pink and purple, though. 

Tiny and lightweight, with a generous arch, this pear-shaped beauty packs a punch and rests easily in your hand and the tapered head lends itself naturally to the pinpoint stimulation of external erogenous zones. I prefer using the Luxe™ Rejuvenate to tease my labia and clit until the orgasms ripple through me. Oh, and they do.

You could also use the Rejuvenate to tease the vaginal opening, perineum, or cock and balls. It’s not really meant as an insertable vibe, and it’s not terribly long, so I don’t recommend going that route with this product.

Though it weighs in at under two ounces, this little vibe is a powerhouse. The vibrations are extremely focused in the tip and there are seven functions of vibration. pulsation and escalation for your choosing.

Two buttons surrounded by silver-plated rings control the Rejuvenate. One button turns the toy on and off. The other turns on the vibrations, and then allows you to cycle through to the next mode by pressing it again. The buttons are illuminated with a red LED light when on, and in case you were wondering, I think the glow is cute.

The Luxe™ Rejuvenate runs on two AAA batteries. The vibrations get pretty deep, and the strength is one of my favorite features of this little ergonomic wonder. I like that it doesn’t numb me out like the Hitachi Magic Wand often does, or even the Eroscillator, yet its power is more than sufficient to get me off consistently. Its design is reminiscent of the LAYASpot, but it’s much smaller, sleeker and lighter. It is 4.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide.

The motor of this baby is pretty damn quiet, and it won’t be heard under a blanket or if you have music playing. Its compact size makes it easy to travel with (just remember to remove the batteries first!), and it stashes wonderfully in my purse. You’ll have to improvise with some kind of case or fabric pouch for it, though, as it does not come with anything other than the molded plastic shell of the plastic box for storage purposes.

Feel free to take the Luxe™ Rejuvenate into the shower or bath with you, as it is completely waterproof. It’s nice not having to worry about submerging the toy or getting water near the battery compartment.

The Luxe™ Rejuvenate vibrator is phthalate-free through-and-through (all layers of materials), hypo-allergenic, and compatible with your favorite water-based or silicone lubricants. I know that the ABS plastic base is considered by most to be non-porous. I haven’t been able to get a straight answer about the PU Cote finish… so if anyone knows for sure, let me know, please!* Clean your toy before and after each use with soap and warm water, or by wiping it down with isopropyl alcohol or a universal sex toy cleaner. Store it in a dark, dry place.

*EDIT: The folks at Cal Exotics were wonderful about answering my questions about the nature of PU Cote. Here’s what I was told:
“PU Cote (polyurethane) [is a] man-made polymer in varying degrees of hardness or softness. This Safe and Pure material is best used with water-based or California Exotic Novelties® Universal Adult Toy Lubricant™. There are different grades of PU Cote; the type we use, and designate as Safe and Pure is both phthalate-free as well as non-porous. Used only as a thin layer over ABS plastic, the soft feel completely changes the dynamic of a hard plastic. Always wash well as there may be gradations in the thickness of the coating where bacteria may grow.
