The Rocket Toyfriends are the third family (line, if you prefer) of vibrators created by Tickler, a Swedish designer label. Each Toyfriend has a different name, character, color, design and tone, although all four of them share certain key features. I wasn’t sure how I felt about a company bestowing the name Toyfriend to a line of vibes, but it works better than I thought it would. It suits these non-threatening, easy-to-approach, easy-to-use, solidly-built and hearty sex toys.

Curvy Rocket Toyfriend Tickler vibrator Babeland

THE Curvy Rocket Toyfriend, Pictured Alongside its Vibrant Packaging.

The packaging is very basic: a cardboard box with a clam-shell plastic insert that holds the actual toy. I’ve held onto it for storage purposes, but if you want to save space, you might prefer to ditch the original packaging.

Please note that the packaging is in no way discreet. The front of the box features a large view window where the vibrator is visible, and both edges of the box have the words “I VIBRATE!” printed on them. The back of the box has a product feature summation, which is handy, but the “SAY HI TO YOUR NEW TOYFRIEND!” in bold magenta CAPS might be a little much as a header. I’m thinking this would be overkill especially for someone new to sex toys, which is Tickler’s intended niche market with the Rocket Toyfriends, from what I understand.

This is a review, specifically, of the Curvy Toyfriend, a bright yellow, cheery colored vibe. The yellow only draws more attention to its generous girth, gentle curve, and stacked bubble-esque shape. I can’t help but smile every time I see it. (And in case you were wondering, it is the only yellow sex toy that I own. I like the color more than I anticipated.)

Even though Babeland has all of the Rocket Toyfriends grouped onto one product page and in the category of slimline vibrators, don’t be fooled! The bubble-esque Curvy Toyfriend vibe (measuring in at 6-1/4” long and with a maximum width of 1-3/4”) is not a slimline vibrator. It is waterproof, made of body-safe silicone (what I actually believe to be a layer of silicone atop an ABS plastic, or another hard base material), comes with batteries included (takes two AAA), has five (count ‘em) vibration modes and settings, and offer a powerful (although, buzzy) vibration experience with an incredibly quiet motor.

Curvy stands at attention in the included clear acrylic base, ready to indulge your pleasure-whims. Just be sure to place your Toyfriend in the base stand carefully, or you’ll inadvertently be turning it on! (I know because I did this half-a-dozen times before figuring out how to have a lighter touch with what is a relatively heavy vibe.) There is no travel-lock. Remove the batteries when not-in-use to keep your Toyfriend happy, and to prevent accidental turn-on!

What I like: Curvy gets my vote for its whimsical nature, non-traditional shape, as well as bright color, and flexibility of use (as either an internal or external vibe, or one could, of course, use it as a insertable dildo) in and out of the water. I like that it’s body-friendly, although as that’s more and more the market trend these days, I’m coming to expect that out of pleasure objects, as I certainly prefer it, and not particularly feel that they’re something special because they’re body-safe.

Where does Curvy fall-short for me? I’m not such a fan of these firm, unyielding silicone vibrators that are large in stature. Also, Curvy has girth, ladies and gentlemen. Lots of girth. I have trouble taking this toy with copious amounts of water-based lube, and though I may find a few breaths of pleasure, really I’m mostly uncomfortable. I’m a little bit unclear on whether Curvy was designed for G-spot stimulation or not, as it is certainly curved. For me, the curve doesn’t hit my G-spot quite right, and part of that may be the girth-factor I mentioned. Or just my anatomy. What else? It’s buzzy. Extremely buzzy. I prefer a deeper, more rumbly vibration from my vibes, and that makes Curvy pretty ineffective for me in the category of vibrator alone.

Obviously, your mileage may vary. If you’re a size-queen and enjoy solidly-built, hard-as-rock vibrators with a relatively light buzz, this might be right up your alley! Or, perhaps, you want one just to sit on your coffee table, or a shelf somewhere as a sculpture (functional or not). It sure is pretty to look at.

The rumors are true that Curvy jumps right into the highest constant vibration speed when you turn it on (I believe this is true for the other Toyfriends, as well). Some people take issue with this; I don’t, particularly, because nine times out of 10, that’s where I’m headed anyhow. The second time you hit the power button, you’ll be greeted with the low constant vibration setting. The next three taps of the button, and you’ll get to experience the pulsation modes. If you hit the power button again, it will cycle back to high. To turn off the Toyfriend, press and hold the power button for about two seconds.

Remember to only use water-based lubricant with this vibe, as silicone lube can cross-react with the silicone body and cause harm to your toy. Wash with mild soap and warm water before and after each use. Since this toy is waterproof, you can submerge it without worry for both cleaning and playtime (just make sure that the battery compartment is sealed tightly). The six ridges, as well as the crevice between the battery compartment and the rest of the vibrator can get a little annoying to clean if you don’t wash-up right after use. (Tip: If you can’t clean Curvy right away, keep a soft bristled toothbrush on-hand just for cleaning!)

Hmm. From first glance it looks like a giant, lopsided, yellow softserve cone. If I didn’t know I was a toy, I want to eat it. Lol

Interesting about the toy specs and sucks about it’s downfall. It’s hard to say what angles it’s supposed to hit.

However, from it’s look, I wouldn’t mind trying it as a prostate toy…. Mmmm

    • Heehe. You brave soul, you! I'm not sure I could even imagine how that might go-down, especially considering its sizable girth. Besides, it doesn't have a flared-base! For anyone reading, this toy is not a good, safe choice for anal play… plenty on the market specifically for that!
